Mini blog #3- mentos in a soda bottle
Today I am going to erupt soda in a 2 liter bottle with a mentos
Materials:
> A pack of Mentos
> 2 liter bottle pf soda
Procedure:
- Bring the soda and the mentos outside
- Open the soda
- Put one or two mentos into the soda bottle
- Move away quickly because the reaction is very fast
- Then the soda will be a fountain and explode at a pretty
decent height
Science:
}In the soda there is caffiene, Co2 gas, benzoate, and aspartame. In the mentos there was gelatin and gum arabic which all contribute to the jet affect.the physical structure of the Mentos is the most significant cause of the eruption due to nucleation.The surface of the mint Mentos is full with many small holes, allowing CO2bubbles to form very rapidly and in great quantity, causing the jet of foam.
Mini blog #2- Ice on a string
Today i am going to hang an ice cube from a string withour tieing it.:)
Materials:
-Ice cube
- Shallow plate
- water
- string or sewing thread
- salt shaker with table salt
Procedure:
1. Put the ice cube on the plate
2. with the string and the water wet a part of the string
3. place the wet part of the string on top of the ice cube
4. with the string on top of the ice cube put some salt on top
of the a wet part of the string
5. Wait a minute then lift the string and the ice cube will hang on
it
Science:
> The freezing point and the melting point of a substance occur at the same temperature. Pure ice melts when warmed above 0c, and pure water freezes when cooled below 0c. At 0c both the solid and liquid form of water can coexist. Adding a substance to a pure liquid causes the freezing point of the resulting solution to be lowered. This process is called freezing-point depression. The lowering of the frezzing point depends on the amount of salt added. The more salt added, the lower the temperature will be before the salt-water solution freezes

Isotopes are any of two or more forms of a chemical element, having the same number of protons in the nucleus, or the same atomic number, but having different numbers of neutrons in the nucleus, or different atomic weights. Most naturally occurring elements have more than one stable isotopes. Certain elements only have radioactive isotopes.
The elements without any stable isotopes are technetium (atomic number 43), promethium (atomic number 61), and the elements with atomic numbers greater than 82. Stable isotopes are chemical isotopes that are not radioactive.

A trip to Mills Canyon Park

The Mills Canyon Park Trip was fun walking with friends ad hanging with a lunch and watching Jensen Li fall down the hill of the park onto Laura Chen. I thought that taking the trial was boring because all we did was walk in a circle, but on the other hand it was still kinda fun to be outside for class. :)

Mini blog #1-Filling up a cup upside down
Today i filled up a cup upisde down without spilling any of it
Materials: Cup, Plate, Match, and liquid
Procedure:
> Get a cup and a plate
> With the plate put some soda or any type of liquid on it
> With the liquid on a plate in the middle put something that will hold a match
> after lighting the match put the match in the thing that will be holding it
> Cover the lighted match with the cup
> With the cup covering the match there is no oxygen getting the match so the match burns
out
> and then the liquid fills the class.

Science:
Is when the cup was over the match it burned out because with the cup covering it
The match didn't get any oxygen and the liquid on the plate, i used soda because it was carbinated, absorbed the oxygen and left the co2 behind and with absorbing the oxygen the liquid filled the cup.

I propose we make some playdough

Materials: 1 cup of salt, 1 cup flour, 1 cup water, and food coloring
Procedure:
1. Pour all ingredients into a large pot
2. Stir constantly on a medium heat
3. Keep stirring until the dough forms into a ball
4. Knead the dough until it is dough like texture
5. Knead in food coloring for color (optional)
6. store in a plastic contain, lasts for 3 months
Safety Percautions:
>Keep away from any pets. The smell of the playdough smells like food
> avoid rubbing the ingredients near your eyes
scientific principles:
1. The liquid, water, keeps the ingredients together and makes
it malleable
2. The solid, salt, dissolves into the water
3. The liquid, food coloring, mixes with the ingredients make it a certain color

Energy Test (scary)
We had an energy and it was hard. The equations were so difficult and it was 120 points and it was so so hard. we got it back in class and I did so bad and it brought my grade down to a C+ and i am like 2% away from a B-. I will try much harder next test :)
